From 1 October 2026, the new Building Safety Levy will apply to qualifying residential developments across England. The levy will generally affect major developments involving 10 or more new dwellings or 30 or more purpose-built student accommodation bedspaces, subject to specific exemptions. Charges will be calculated per square metre, with rates varying according to the local authority area and whether the development is on previously developed land.

With extensive experience in construction quality, inspection, building safety and professional standards, Gerry is committed to delivering practical, industry-led training that develops competence and improves standards across the built environment.
Steve is a seasoned construction professional with more than 40 years of industry experience. A Fellow of both the ICWCI and the ACQP, he delivers our Clerk of Works courses and the Clerk of Works Diploma, sharing extensive practical knowledge and experience with our learners.
Peter delivers our Mechanical and Electrical courses, bringing more than 40 years of industry experience, including serving as a Senior Estates Manager within the NHS. We are delighted to have someone of Peter’s calibre sharing his extensive knowledge and practical expertise with our learners.
