Health & Safety Fellowship recognises the experience, judgement and contribution of senior practitioners who help protect people and improve standards across construction and the built environment. It brings that recognition together with accessible membership support and opportunities to keep learning, contribute and share professional knowledge.

ACQP membership is designed to recognise professional responsibility while providing access to a wider community focused on competence, accountability and better construction quality.

  • Directors, heads of health and safety and senior managers.
  • Lead consultants, advisers and CDM professionals with senior responsibility.
  • Experienced practitioners who mentor others, share knowledge and improve professional practice.

Eligibility

What the review considers.

  • Current Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH), supported by evidence.
  • Normally at least 10 years of leadership experience and a clear record of senior responsibility.
  • Evidence of personal judgement, leadership and meaningful health and safety outcomes.
  • Contribution beyond normal duties, such as mentoring, education, industry groups or sharing good practice.
  • Commitment to 25 hours of CPD each year and professional conduct.
  • Successful ACQP assessment and approval; CMIOSH does not automatically award Fellowship.

How to apply

A clear application and review process.

    Prepare your evidence

    Check the CMIOSH and leadership requirements, gather your documents and read the candidate guide.

  2. 02

    Apply and book

    Choose Health & Safety Fellow, complete your application and select an available one-hour Teams review. You can save and finish later.

  3. 03

    Attend your review

    Complete the assessment payment before your appointment, then discuss your experience, judgement and supporting evidence with the reviewers.

  4. 04

    Receive your decision

    ACQP confirms the assessment outcome. If accepted, pay the £260 annual subscription and complete your membership activation.

Evidence checklist

What to have ready.

  • A current CV showing your roles, leadership experience and senior responsibilities.
  • Current CMIOSH evidence showing your name, membership number and grade.
  • Relevant qualifications, professional training and your CPD record.
  • A reflective account of up to 3,000 words describing a significant initiative you personally led.
  • Supporting examples of health and safety outcomes, leadership and contribution beyond your normal role.

A professional discussion supported by evidence

The one-hour Microsoft Teams peer review uses 25 structured questions, scored from 0 to 4. The minimum assessment threshold is 70 out of 100. Reviewers consider your professional judgement, personal contribution and supporting evidence before recording a formal recommendation. Meeting the threshold alone does not automatically award Fellowship.

If Fellowship is not awarded, ACQP will advise on an appropriate alternative membership grade. The annual Fellowship subscription is payable only after acceptance.

Application terms: a one-off £120 Admission and Assessment fee applies, is non-refundable and must be paid before the peer review. The separate £260 annual Fellowship subscription is payable only after acceptance. Meeting the published requirements does not guarantee an award.
