About the ACQP

Construction quality needed its own professional voice.

Established in 2019, the Association of Construction Quality Professionals brings together people who believe quality must be planned, managed, inspected and evidenced throughout the entire construction process.

Established 2019 A modern association with a clear purpose.
UK-wide A professional community across the built environment.
Industry-led Membership and learning grounded in real practice.
Member-focused Personal support, recognition and development.

Why we were formed

Quality is more than the final inspection.

The ACQP was set up in 2019 in response to a simple but important need: the professionals responsible for construction quality deserved an association focused directly on their work, their development and the standards they uphold.

For too long, quality was often treated as something checked at the end of a project. The ACQP was founded on a different principle. Good quality begins with design, planning, competence and clear responsibility. It continues through procurement, installation, inspection, evidence, handover and the life of the building.

That belief continues to shape everything we do, from professional membership and post-nominals to practical training, CPD, structured learning and direct member support.

Our purpose is not simply to recognise construction quality professionals. It is to help them raise standards, strengthen competence and achieve better outcomes.

Our story

From a clear idea to a growing professional community.

The ACQP has grown by staying close to its original purpose: giving construction quality professionals meaningful recognition, useful support and a voice within the industry.

2019

The ACQP is established

The Association of Construction Quality Professionals was created with a clear purpose: to provide a dedicated professional home for people responsible for quality across construction and the built environment.

The early years

Building a professional community

The association developed membership routes that recognised different stages of experience while bringing together inspectors, quality managers, site professionals, consultants and specialists around a shared commitment to better standards.

Growing our support

From recognition to development

Professional recognition was joined by practical CPD, specialist knowledge, member guidance and opportunities for people across the industry to learn from one another and progress in their careers.

Today

Membership, training and a stronger voice

ACQP now combines professional membership with industry-led training, structured learning, digital member services and a dedicated Training Centre, while remaining focused on the people who plan, manage, inspect and evidence quality.

Our purpose today

Better quality. Stronger competence. Safer outcomes.

We support the people who plan, manage, inspect, evidence and improve construction quality. We recognise their professionalism, strengthen their development and encourage standards that go beyond the minimum.

What guides us

Professional values with practical meaning.

Our values shape how we recognise members, develop training, support professionals and contribute to the wider construction industry.

01

Standards above compliance

Compliance is the starting point. We encourage professional judgement, accountability and an active commitment to better outcomes.

02

Practical professionalism

Our work is grounded in the realities of construction sites, project teams, inspections, technical decisions and professional responsibility.

03

Recognition with purpose

Membership should recognise genuine knowledge, experience and contribution while giving professionals a clear route to progress.

04

Knowledge shared

Better quality depends on people learning from defects, good practice, project experience and one another.

05

Independent thinking

We are prepared to question accepted practice, raise difficult issues and keep construction quality visible in industry conversations.

06

Members first

ACQP is built around responsive, personal support and useful benefits that make a genuine difference to professional life.
