About this course
The UKCA Marking for Structural Steelwork course provides a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory framework governing the manufacture, fabrication and supply of structural steelwork within Great Britain. As UKCA marking continues to play a key role in demonstrating compliance with statutory requirements, organisations involved in structural steel fabrication must understand both their legal responsibilities and the technical standards that underpin compliance.
This intensive one-day programme has been developed for professionals involved in the design, fabrication, inspection, quality assurance and installation of structural steelwork. It explains the complete UKCA marking process, from understanding the legislation through to Factory Production Control (FPC), welding requirements, documentation, declarations of performance and ongoing quality management.
Delegates will explore the requirements of BS EN 1090, Factory Production Control systems, Execution Classes (EXC1–EXC4), welding quality requirements, traceability of materials, inspection procedures and certification processes. The course also examines the responsibilities of manufacturers, Approved Bodies, clients and contractors, together with the evidence required during audits and assessments.
Practical examples are used throughout the course to demonstrate how compliant systems are implemented within fabrication workshops and construction projects. Delegates will also review common compliance failures, enforcement issues and best practice for maintaining certification.
By the end of the course delegates will have a clear understanding of how UKCA marking applies to structural steelwork, the documentation required to demonstrate compliance, and how effective quality management systems support safer, higher-quality construction projects.
