If Fellowship is not awarded following assessment, The ACQP will offer an appropriate alternative membership grade. The Admission and Assessment fee is not refundable.

The Fellowship route has two separate payment stages. The yearly subscription is payable only after you have passed the criteria and The ACQP has confirmed your acceptance.
Yearly Fellowship subscription
£260 per year
The full yearly subscription is payable only after you have passed the Fellowship criteria and The ACQP has confirmed your acceptance to Fellowship.
Successful applicants receive the secure £260 payment link with their acceptance decision and through their application-status page.
If Fellowship is not awarded, you will be offered an appropriate alternative membership grade or a full refund of the £120 Admission and Assessment fee. The £260 yearly Fellowship subscription will not be charged.
Transparent and consistent assessment
How the Fellowship peer review is assessed
The one-hour Microsoft Teams review uses 25 structured questions to explore the applicant’s experience, professional judgement, leadership and contribution to construction quality.
The type of questions asked
Applicants are encouraged to use real examples from their own professional practice. The discussion normally covers:
- Career progression, senior responsibility and personal accountability
- Leadership of quality, technical or fire-safety outcomes
- Standards, legislation, risk management and professional judgement
- Nonconformities, corrective action, improvement and lessons learned
- Ethics, competence, mentoring, CPD and contribution to the profession
The review is a professional discussion rather than a memory test. Reviewers are looking for clear evidence, personal involvement and thoughtful reflection.

Each of the 25 questions is scored from 0 to 4 against a consistent assessment guide.

A score of 70 or above meets the assessment threshold. The panel also considers the verified application evidence and records a formal membership recommendation.

Fellow
For senior professionals who can demonstrate leadership, responsibility and an established contribution to construction quality, inspection, compliance, building safety or related practice.

Fellowship eligibility
Requirements for the Direct Route
Fellowship is intended for established professionals who can demonstrate sustained senior responsibility, leadership and a meaningful contribution to quality or fire safety within the built environment.
Senior leadership experience
Applicants should normally have at least 10 years of leadership experience, with responsibility for people, projects, organisations, technical decisions or significant quality and safety outcomes.
Contribution beyond your normal role
We look for active contribution outside routine employment duties. This may include mentoring, professional bodies, industry groups, charities, education, community work, research, standards development or sharing good practice.
Qualifications and professional development
Applicants who do not hold Chartered status should normally hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent academic, vocational or professional qualification. Relevant qualifications are not restricted to construction where their professional value can be demonstrated.
Alternative professional recognition
Relevant senior membership of a recognised professional body may support an application. Examples include CIOB, ICWCI, CABE, RICS, RIBA, CIAT, ICE, IFE and other appropriate organisations.

A 3,000-word reflective account
Applicants are required to submit a reflective account of a significant initiative they have personally led. It should demonstrate leadership of people or organisations, professional judgement, the actions taken, the quality or safety outcomes achieved, and what was learned from the experience.
The account can be uploaded with the supporting evidence during the online application.
Meeting the published requirements does not guarantee Fellowship. Every application, supporting document and peer-review assessment is independently considered against the ACQP Fellowship standard.
